Last weekend, I went to an arcade with a friend and was drawn to a boxing machine. I’d only intended to have a quick go, but ended up playing 20 rounds in a row; my hands were aching, but I didn’t want to leave.
First, let me share my impressions: the punching bag is covered in leather, so it feels really comfortable to hit, whilst still delivering a powerful punch—unlike some machines that feel stiff and jarring. It’s secured by a large rubber base, making it incredibly stable; even when I threw a punch with all my might, it didn’t budge an inch. The screen displays the power reading with very little margin of error. My friends and I have been competing to see who can score the highest—the loser has to treat us to bubble tea, which is absolutely brilliant.
The reaction mode is great fun too—it’s not about how hard you hit, but how quickly you react during the countdown, so even girls who aren’t very strong can give it a go; everyone has a chance. You can also play in a group of six, taking turns to play, and the atmosphere is absolutely electric.
Later, I asked the owner where he’d bought the machine, and he said it was from Guangzhou Lingchen. He told me they export to over 100 countries, have an extremely low rate of after-sales service calls, and are very reliable. And indeed, I’ve been playing for ages and haven’t seen it get stuck once. I’ll definitely be back to play again next time!
